The Hamilton CBD Masterplan will focused on Lonsdale, Gray St and Melville Oval. The Southern Grampians Shire Council engaged a team led by urban designers Jensen PLUS to design improvements to some of Hamilton’s most important CBD streets and public spaces. The project was identified as part of the city-wide Hamilton Structure Plan prepared for Council in 2012, and follows the commencement of detailed designs and scheduled construction for Cox Street.
The design focus for this phase of CBD project will be Melville Oval, Lonsdale Street and Gray Street, as well as other connections and laneway's. The designs explore options to improve walking and cycling, introduce more public art and signage, public spaces, parking, and improved trees and landscaping.
